Specialist Interests

In addition to using Chinese Medicine and aromatherapy to manage women’s health issues as discussed elsewhere in this site, Beverley has the following special areas of interest.

Supportive care for people living with cancer

Beverley has worked with people with cancer for many years, using both acupuncture and aromatherapy.  She is interested in using complementary therapies to enhance the care people with cancer receive both during and after treatment.

Both acupuncture and aromatherapy can be effective in helping to manage the side effects experienced by people as they undergo active treatment for cancer.  This includes managing symptoms such as nausea, hot flushes, fatigue, sleep disturbances, abnormal appetite, and anxiety.  These therapies can be used to address all aspects of well-being – physical, emotional, and spiritual and can also be used in palliative care.

Once active cancer treatment is complete, acupuncture can play a beneficial role in restoring a sense of overall well-being.  It can improve sleep, energy levels, and concentration, as well as managing the side effects of adjuvant treatments (such as the hot flushes related to Tamoxifen, Zoladex, and Arimidex).  In addition, it can help people with cancer make the emotional, as well as physical, adjustments to their new life following diagnosis and active treatment.

Acupuncture Detoxification

Beverley is a member of the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA) http://www.nadauk.com, and has been trained as an acupuncture detoxification specialist.
